On her way to Grandma's house, Little Red Riding Hood meets a wolf. Now, that might scare some little girls--but not this little girl! She knows just what the wolf is up to, and she s not going to let him get away with it. In this updated fairy tale with a mischievous twist, talented newcomer Bethan Woollvin uses sly humor, striking visuals, and a dark irreverence to turn a familiar tale on its head.

Delightfully clever! (5 stars)

Little Red is an amusing and truly smart take on the classic fairytale. It's always been one of my personal favorites so I adore a good twist or retelling and this is probably my favorite children's version. I read it to myself and later my 6 year old who went absolutely bananas over it, making me read it over and over and then doing a pretty good job of reading it to me.

If you've ever wanted to see a version of Little Red Riding Hood where she's smart as a whip, this is it.

Other great retellings of this classic for varying age groups:
