Gorgeous, long-lasting gloss in lovely colors... (4 stars)

My favorite local spa carries Bare Escentuals products but their BUXOM line has become exclusive to an online retailer so I can't buy it there anymore. But while it was available I became hooked.

I'm quite fair skinned, have dark hair and hazel eyes so my make-up looks tend to be very carefully planned. I don't go out frequently so dramatic looks are unusual and I don't like spending lots of money on products that only get used once before they expire. Which means I need versatile products that flatter my coloring. That's where BUXOM's Lip Polish comes in. While bright hued in the tubes the color is sheer enough for a subtle hint of color but lush lip shine. They also layer extremely well over lipliner or lipstick.

Now as to the product's claims of fuller lips, it's the placebo effect. The product contains Menthone Glycerin Acetal which causes a slight tingling sensation—which I will admit was overwhelming the first time I used it—basically it's like menthol but not as minty. I think most associate the tingling with swelling. It also contains mica a mineral commonly used in toothpaste and cosmetics to make it sparkle, in this case it catches the  light and makes your lips appear larger. That said aren't most beauty products intended to make you feel like you look better? I know this one has worked for me.

While a little pricey I enjoyed this product enough to purchase it in two colors—Sugar and Dani—a neutral and a soft pink. It's long lasting, I only need to reapply after eating or drinking anything greasy or acidic. Plus my lips don't feel dried out at the end of the day like they have with other stickier glosses.

Overall the only reason I can't claim I love the product is the difficulty of finding it (an exclusive retailer means no local place to pick it up or buying from resellers) and the price (retails for $18).

Notes: Product purchased by me. I am in no way affiliated with Bare Escentuals or Sephora.
